I'm back! We evacuated to Houston before the storm. Had very minor damage, loss some shingles and fence. No flooding. All services are back up. LaPlace is being used as a jumping off place for some of the rescue and recovery operations being it is only 27 miles to the Superdome on I-10. Please contribuate to the Red Cross and other relief operations and don't believe everything you hear on the national news. Rumors are rampant about lawlessness but it is not the norm. A small group of street level drug dealers and crack addicts who can't get their fix are causing most of the problems but law enforcement has moved in and is taking control.
