2001 21 ft seafox walkaround Clean and solid hull, boat has been sitting for 2 years, and will not start. Problem is not in the motor it is in the outdrive. Engine is a volvo penta 3.5 L , and outdive is also volvo penta .Sale comes with boat, motor, trailer and title. Asking $5000 obo AS IS. ......................

dude a walk around is very nice to fish on i wish my sea ray cruiser was a walk around well it is in a way but with a big enough fish on i would probably be swimming with my rod in hand lol anyway first thing to do is a compression check on engine then price on craigslist what the outdrive will cost boats and drives are selling dirt cheap right now due to economy so you might find the drive or better yet a better deal completely on another boat good luck fishin!!!!

HUH??? I think someone is feeding you something that leaves a bad taste in MY mouth.
Those are two entirely seperate components. A broken outdrive does not dictate whether or not the engine runs. The drive can be removed and, with the exception of water intake, the engine WILL NOT KNOW that the drive is gone.

exactly why i said to do a compression check and test the engine before moving forward if he cant start that motor i would walk away as well no doubt!! to many good deals out there right now on completely good running well maintained boats with records of service

Of all the condition-related verbiage above, there are only two tidbits you can be sure are the truth:

1) "will not start"
2) "AS IS"

And another you can assume to be true: there's something wrong in both the motor and the outdrive.



Ad does say OBO. Maybe offer $500 to $1000 if the hull and trailer are rock solid (and you can gamble that amount on a project boat), and use the remaining $4-$4.5k to make it run.

On a side note, WTF is it with people who think they can get good money for boats that don't even run???

Well it is a 2001 boat as opposed to a 80's vintage that you see for sale by the hundreds....I would definitely have to find out what exactly was wrong with it and how much it would cost to fix before even making an offer.... a compression test as mentioned for a start....I guess it could be stuck in gear and the reason why it wont start? got to get more information.
