I have a lake house on a lake in upstate New York, called The Great Sacandaga Lake, right by Lake George. on the property next to me, a guy is looking to sell a 1999 mirrocraft 14 foot boat. the transom is rotted, but he said he would give me the wood for it. he also said that the final price for this would be $175. i realized on the bottom of it , was a patch. also, i have a 12ft jon boat with a 7.5 hp motor on it..if i bought this boat i would put a 9.9 hp motor on it. i dont know which one would go faster, because the mirrocraft is heavier then my jon boat. should i buy the mirrocraft, and how much faster would the mirrocraft go with a 9.9 on the back then my jon boat with the 7.5 on the back?

Never heard anything bad about Mirrocraft and if it comes with a running motor for less than 2 bills I would jump on it, pretty good deal.

Wood rots and a transom is easy to replace, just be sure the transom isn't bent from the rotten wood and if the hole was patched properly that isn't a problem either as long as it doesn't leak.

As far as speed, your not gonna break any speed records but a 9.9 on a 14 should be more than adequate.

That would sound about right. I had a Lund A-14 14 ft. boat almost similar to the Mirrocraft you just bought, but I had a 15 hp motor on it. It would propel me to 20 mph,so 15 mph out of a 10 hp motor sounds about right to me.

yeah. the max on this boat is a 40 hp, so i figured next year i would buy a 30 hp. but if i buy a 30 hp, do i need to get a center console in it?
