I am looking to purchase a 22-25 foot Sport Fishing Boat for mild offshore use. There are tons of manufacturers out there. (I am currently compiling a list)
Here in the Northwest, there is not much to choose from; Trophy's, Stripers, an occasional Campion. So I need some help from ya'll.

All I know is that I want a walkaround cuddy, good storage, a hardtop, a large gas tank, and a hull designed for cruising choppy/rough waters.

I don't mind an older boat (late 80s) and my price range is 20K ish.

Any feedback on my best manufacturer choice? Grady? Robalo? Chris Craft? Pro Line? Aquasport? Shamrock? Ohhh the options!!! How to ever decide?

Re: Buying a Boat

I totally don't understand the full question. 1st you state "Mild" ,then you state, "Choppy-Rough",Some of the boats are inboard, some are Outboard, thats 1 decision to make, 2nd, there can be a BIG difference between 22' and 25', Low range $19K, High range $45+, Give an idea of the price range. You will get a lot of feedback, and most will state there feelings on what they own. I prefer a Pursuit, for many reasons as compared to other's in the same price range @ $35K.A hard top can be an add-on, fuel tank depends on boat size, and engine size. Some of the W/A's are very narrow for footing. Some boats loose space aft due to the arrangement of the engine compartment.
My suggestion is to go to various dealers, crawl around the boats, make notes of your likes/dislikes, and GO FOR IT. Good Luck!!

Mort,

Pursuit gave very sage advice. Go crawl around a bunch of them.

You might also want to look at Scout.

C-Dory makes a nice 22' hard top. I believe that they are made in the North West.
They are pricey new but keep an eye out for a used one. Sea Sport, Hurston, and Double Eagle all make good west coast fishing boats.
