Looking at a used Minn Kota Powerdrive. 12v 55lbs.

What do I need to look for? What problems might be hidden etc?

This is for an 18' Starcraft (aluminum).

I've already asked what the shaft length is, but can't think of anything else to be curious about until I see it.

Re: Buying a used Minn Kota powerdrive

Before buying, connect the unit to a battery and test it. The continuous-momentary switch should work as should the left right steering, and the speed control slider. If any function is not working, you have a choice. Price the unit $100 less and buy a new foot pedal for $75 or pass on the deal. Foot pedals that were continually drenched by rain or water over the bow tend to be a problem. I've owned three power drives and none of them have ever been an issue but the controller is always stowed at night. I have PowerDrive V2 on a pontoon and it works very well. My walleye boat also has a 50# PD and it too has been trouble free.

Yeah. I've been doing some reading and I see the pedals can be an issue.

I'll be sure to bring a battery so I can test it out.

Thanks for the reply.

And what do these things go for used? 3-4 years old but (according to the seller) "not a scratch on it"

I can't seem to find the equivalent for sale locally. Has anyone in Canada priced one of these out (or the current model)?

Well.

It looks in perfect shape and it's mine. Came with the quick release bracket and everything tested out perfect.

The seller had upgraded from a 20' boat to a huge (24?) Custom Weld jet boat and the 55 wasn't enough anymore.

Now to figure out how to mount it next to my river anchor.

I bought a PD 50(not sure of the year)last year for $300(N.S.).A1 shape.
Diffenitly a learning curve with the foot control and I do find it alittle noisy compared to a tiller.

It all comes down to what your willing to pay;or what it is worth to you,on the price.
