Hey, I've been looking around for a boat and came across this 2000 Ebbtide Campione 210 i really liked found here: Used 2000 Ebbtide Campione 210, Louisville, Ky - 40209 - BoatTrader.com

I'm a little worried that the boat hasnt touched water for more then 2 days in the last 4 years from what i gather in the description, 2 years with the rebuilt engine.. i havnt owned a boat before so im wondering what kind of problems could arrise from it being left unused for so long..

My biggest question is regaurding price.. Nada puts this boat at 10,500 with all the extras... maybe throw in another 1000 for the trailer and im still no where close to what he's calling a "firm" price of 15,500.. I understand the engine has been replaced two years ago but im not sure how that would be priced. I've beening looking around and i havnt seen anthing similar with a replaced engine with really low hours to compare it against..

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: buying advice on an Ebbtide Campione 210

Unfortunately many people will sink thousands of dollars into their boats and then hold firm on a ridiculously high price because "they just want to get their money out of it". We've seen a number of these boats in our search for our next boat but we refuse to be the ones to pay the price. It's too bad really because we know of three really good boats for sale in the area close to home but the owners are asking up to three times what they're really worth. You'd think these people would figure it out after having to renew their ads for more than six months. We ended up finding the perfect boat but it's a four hour drive from here. Beats paying some idiot $20k for a boat that's worth $10K. You should level with the guy and tell him that the boat probably won't be appraised at more than $11K and would he be open to a reasonable offer. If not,,, keep looking. Also, find out if he put a factory NEW engine in the thing,, this would likely have cost him 7 or 8 grand installed and could have an effect on the final price as well. Insist on seeing receipts though, We've seen boats advertised with new engines that have turned out to have car engines from the reman plant in them. Good luck.
