Guys, I need a new chain for my dirt bike, due to the last one being pinched when it came off at speed (boy was that fun).

Anyway, I have no idea how you order one. I know the rear sprocket is not stock.

Do you oder it by the total length, or by model and include sprocket teeth count?

Thanks, Ken

Count the links. Dennis Kirk is where I buy my chain and I usually get the o-ring type.

They also have sprokets and all other parts! If your sprocket teeth are pointed and sharp better order that too.

Bob

Be careful buying chain by number of links.I used to change tons of roller chain at work and if the chain is worn bad and someone removed a link or two then if you order by number of links your new chain will be too short. However if the chain has the original number of links then that method will be fine.I believe in most motorcycle applications it is sold by number of links.

Any bike shop should have o-ring chain in bulk(its probably 520 chain-most dirtbikes are).. Get a few more links than ya need and a new master. Chainbreaker would help, but you can grind down the pin and punch it out. Make sure you adjust the wheel forward again too. If any sprocket teeth are hooked, replace (BOTH)
