Hey everyone,

My brother and I are looking into buying a 100hp Yamaha fourstroke(25 inch long shaft) to replace his old 90hp johnson (20 inch long shaft). My question is will that yamaha work for his boat? I mean, can an engine with a 20-inch shaft engine be replaced by a 25-inch shaft motor? I know I need to order Yamaha controls too as well.

Thanks for any info.,

This may assist you. http://www.marinepartsman.com/installing-an-outboard-on-your-boat.html

The bottom cavitation plate must be around 1" lower than the hull, give or take

Thanks alot, Black as, I guess it will probably not work. I will have to find a motor with a 20inch shaft.

Or mount the long shaft motor on an adjustable jack plate.
