It never hurts to look around while you're here. The c/f stuff is getting kinda scarce here in saltwater land. There's some nice marinas and shops in that area.

Good luck!

Pick up a copy of Boat Trader in any 7-11. Motors are towards the back.

Hey Charlie,

I live in Tampa, but originally from CT. One thing to remember is that boats in florida can almost be used all year round(so you have alot of tired motors out there). When I look for a deal, I try to look in north central Florida, lots of lakes, no salt water. I have runned across some motors that people have had sitting on a boat for 10+ years. These people own an acre or more in the middle of no where and neighbors just don't care that a boat looks more like a planter. The motor I am usin now is an 1973 85hp johnson that sat for 17 years. I paid 200 for trashed boat, like new 1973 motor, and galvanized trailor without a spec of rust on it.

They also get tired of sharing there lakes with the gators, but thats another story.

Good luck

Like boatdudebackfromdead says. Florida boats get used a lot. Old motors aren't as common in Florida compared to other states because of the high use and saltwater corrosion. The best used motors in Florida are from the inland areas with fresh water use.

Here's a list of top 20 states with number of boat registrations:

1. Michigan 1,003,947

2. California 957,463

3. Florida 902,964

4. Minnesota 826,048

5. Texas 621,244

6. Wisconsin 575,920

7. New York 526,190

8. Ohio 414,658

9. South Carolina 382,072

10. Illinois 369,626

11. Pennsylvania 359,525

12. North Carolina 353,560

13. Missouri 335,521

14. Georgia 327,026

15. Louisiana 322,779

16. Mississippi 300,970

17. Alabama 262,016

18.
