Hello to all!!! I've looked at this sight before and this is my first post.
Anyway, I'm buying a used, working Minn Kota Turbo Pro 324, 48lb thrust, bow mount, hand control trolling motor. What should I looking at and check before purchasing. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

TakeEm

Re: Buying used trolling motor

Welcome to the forum! The first and most obvious item on the list is "does it work?" Not just on his boat but in the water as well. Does the unit rotate easily? Is the shaft bent? (shouldn't be, it's a Minn Kota) Does power work through all speeds? Is the lower unit in good shape? Keep in mind that trolling motors take the brunt of impacts on the lower unit so scratches and worn paint are common there but big dents, cracked housings and broken skegs should throw up a flag . Make sure the mount is not cracked. Ask HIM to take the prop off (you break it, you buy it) and inspect the shaft and prop for damage. Has it been taken care of and why is he selling it? If all of these answers ar in your favor it should be a good unit.

fish

Fish, it works in all speeds. Excellent condition on the outside. I'll have to take the prop off tomorrow. He sold it because it wasn't strong enough to move his 18' Skeeter across the water with a headwind. I'll be selling my current Motor Guide for that same reason and putting this one on. Thanks for the help though.

TakeEm
