I have a 1990 johnson 90 HP with VRO. The fuel side is working fine. I think is is oiling ok but keep getting the oil buzze. Blue smoke comes out the exhaust ok. I know I can dosconnect the oil system and premix. But would like to fix the problem and keep the VRO. I put new clamps on all oil lines and fuel had tie raps. Took the oil line off the VRO and it was full of oil. Boat has been setting for about 3 yr's. Thanks for any help.

Re: Buzzer oil warning

What exact alarm are you getting; constant, every few seconds, every thirty seconds?

Have you replaced the oil filter?

Re: Buzzer oil warning

The buzzer will go off about every 6 sec's or so. It does not have a oil filter, should I put one on it. It will start buzzen after the motor has run 3 or 4 min's. water in pee hole is cool. I put new temp senors in the heads. new thermostats, water pump and new head gaskets and water jacket covers. This motor was run in salt water for about 12 years. when I moved to GA it will be fresh water only. 1990 Johnson 90 HP (J90TLCEM)

OK. I just went out and started the motor. After 3 1/2 min's the buzzer will sound for about 1 sec, then shut off is will stay off for 2 sec's and come back on. only let this happin 4 or 5 times before I shut it down,. Like I said before smoke from exhaust during this engine run. i disconnect the wires from oil tank and it will do the same thing. Also removed the temp wires from heads and got the same thing. I don't think it is a heat problem, water in pee hold is cool. But I am green and only a thought.

Re: Buzzer oil warning

The beeps every few seconds is a no-oil warning coming from the oil tank. You may want to replace or clean the oil filter and check for air leaks in the oil side of the system.

BTW, the oil filter is inside of the the oil tank; it's standard, see the parts catalog.

Re: Buzzer oil warning

I disconnect the wires from the oil tank and still got the buzzer is that normal.
Also moved the float in tank down. it was at the low level at haft full. float wire contact's are under oil right now about 1/2 inch. I moved it down to see if that was the problem. Still get the buzzer. I will replace all the oil lines and use new clamps to see if that works. Thanks for the help.
