Bypassing kill switch to test start engine 3.0L

I bought a boat/trailer and the boat is going to the dump. Before I pull the engine Id like to try to get it to run but it doesnt have spark, no power to the coil. I remember reading somewhere a while ago that you can just unplug the main harness at the motor and jump a couple pins together to get the engine to start. Thats what id like to do here. I have the battery hooked up to the starter and the ground on the block. What next?
