I have a 16 foot Carolina skiff with a 2003 Mercury 40 hp 2-stroke. I wanna bypass the oil pump but I don’t know to much about it. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated
I'm pretty sure if you just start premixing 2 cycle oil to your gas and you'll be fine, and can forget about the injection system. Premix Mercs were 50:1 using Merc oil. My neighbor bought a used 40 hp Merc and the injection pump failed, along with the rest of the motor. There are many, many premix O/B motors alive and well today.
