good grief.

when its to cold to boat, i hardly get on iboats. everything looks different from last time i was on here. if we could just get a "warm snap" one weekend to get on the water, that would satisfy my cravings until spring... i think.

anybody else feel the same?

I got my warm snap Sunday when it went up to 40, so I could run the boat I keep in the water. Had a nice pre-sunset cruise. But Saturday when it was 25 I was out before dawn in a canoe and a open skiff; friday was 30 but wind about 20 off the ocean for the same. It's only becasue of the ducks I'm out there. Last weekend of the season is coming up.

iboats is what keeps me going all winter long.

i'd be happy with a warm snap. might get one friday. it's gonna be 40*F. don't do me much good though. the water is still hard around here.
i'm getting my boat fix right now by working on my drive. good thing i'm working on it now. my intention was to R&R the impeller and gear lub. looks like i will be doing more than that. and that'll keep me busy thinking about boats.

only a couple more months (three on the outside) and things will be looking up i hope. i usually get out end march or early april.

Geez -- this time of year a warm snap up here in the tundra is anything above 0 F. If you want to boat you do it below a dam on the Mississippi or in your bathtub with a rubber ducky. Some years ago I crossed the St Croix River between Prescott, Wisconsin and Minnesota and there was boat in the river and an ice fisherman about 50 feet from where the ice met open water. The two dudes could have casted and hit each other.

My river is frozen solid so I woud need a whole week of warm before I could get out.

Almost went ice fishing last week but it is just too much work to drag the hut so i played poker instead, won $50 for the boat fund too.

I went out two weeks ago with a friend and got some fresh oysters. 50 degrees was plenty warm, just don't go too fast into the wind.

took my jet ski out on the river last night! Only problem is the jetski forgot where the jet pump was, and instead grew a track and some skis up front. Still as tempermental as any other jetski though!

hmm, my lake still has several feet of ice over it, but, this is Canada and it's January. Good thing we have iboats to get us through the dark months of winter :D

I got a new baitcaster reel the other day. So of course I'm out on the front porch casting into the yard with it, just learning how to use it, you know? Of course it was snowing pretty good... What a strange look the mailman gave me. Yeah, i guess I'm itchin'.

:(I am new to the boat scene. Ive been a lifelong motorcycle addict. Hi, my name is Mitch. Now i have my first boat. I have been slipping out into the cold to start getting my new to me vintage boat readiy for a spring commisioning. (spell check) Darn, all those cleaners and polishers just wont work under 40 degrees. Im not sure, but im thinking Winter Sucks! I would love to move my operation to Tahiti. :D Pray to the sun god.

Yup, living up here on the edge of the Canadian prairies we have just come out of 2 weeks of -30C temperatures, had two days around -10 and now headed down again :(

If I won a lottery, I would at least build a heated shop big enough to have the boat(s) in where it is warm so I could comfortably work on them. Okay, I will confess I would probably paint a lake scene on one wall of the shop so I could sit at the helm and pretend I was on the lake!

Re: c-c-c-c-cold

I'm in south Mississippi so i technically could go boating at any time. But dang it, that wind is cold and its about an 8 mile boat ride from where i put in to where the speckled trout are. i did talk a buddy into showing me where he goes to get redfish, but he said we'd have to wait til at least the end of February because there's no way he's get on the water all day this time of year.
it won't be long. it won't be long. it won't be long. (repeat incessantly)
