I'm hoping you experts can once again help me with some expertise.

My '99 C90 Serial L/500718/U has been acting up and getting air in the hydraulic fluid. I realised I had a problem when it sometimes refused to tilt down until I dropped it with the manual release valve. I changed the fluid and bled it to no avail and then found a leak out of one the dust seals of the twin up trim pistons.

First question it seems from the yam workshop manual I have to take the engine transom brackets apart to get the whole T&Tunit out? This looks like it means taking the engine off the transom or is there another way? If I only replace the seals on the known leaking piston I think I can get that out with the T&T unit left in situ and is that likely to cure the hiccups?

Looking at the online parts catalog on iBoats there doesn't appear to be a rebuild seal kit or is there? I'll probably try replacing the seals I can see are leaking but may need to replace all seals from the ground up. Maybe a Winter job!

Regarding the leaking piston the parts listing shows only a dust seal 6H1-43822-10-00 but there has to be an O-ring inside the Trim Cylinder Screw 6H1-43821-11-00 or do I have to buy the screw with buit-in O-ring?

Sorry for the length of the posting but just trying to get all the info and options up first time. Many thanks for any help and advice you can offer.

Yes, you just about have to pull the engine to remove the Trim and tilt. You have to remove one clamp bracket from the tilt tube to get it out as it is sanswitched in there pretty good. Remember your safety and common sence cause for the most part you will be working on an engine that is hanging.

The screw on dust cap is usually absurdly expensive (100+ dollars)
I dunno if it's a winter project, maybe a weekend project. Totally doable

Thanks Karl for confirming the removal details. However I'm still not quite clear on whether the screw cap has the oil seal built in or is it replaceable? It sounds like I have to replace the screw cap to fix my leak. At least I can do that without removing half the engine mounting hardware!
Many thanks,
Dave
