Just bought my first boat since I was a teenager. Saw an '89 Bayliner Capri w/ a 2.3 OMC at Cabelas for $2500. Made my best deal and bought it. Before I picked it up, they decided to put in new plugs, wires, and cap, good deal, right? Maybe not. Got the boat home, put it in the water, and...crazy valve train noise, running on 3 cylinders. I pulled the valve cover and everything looked good, my guess is a broken valve spring.
Called the salesman to voice my disappointment, not expecting anything, low and behold, he told me to bring the boat back and he would take care of everything and make it right.
Now before you guys start in on me, I know I did everything wrong when buying the boat. (my excuse is I got on the site after the purchase)
I was surprised with Cabelas service after the sale. I didn't tell the salesman that I will be buying a brand new boat in the next year or two, as this was something to get me used to boating again. If I beat the crap out of it learning to dock and launch, no biggie. Rather learn on this one than a new one.
Its been a good learning experience though. Depending on the quality of the work, guess I'll keep dealing with Cabelas.
