hello everyone, I been buying things for my barge, to get ready for fishing, over the winter, and sitting here reading threads posted, and learning. I was wondering how many others out there got cabin fever like I do. it has been a mild winter so far here in PA. but I had enough. Feb and March I start getting restless and want to get out and about.I bought my pontoon last fall and have not yet had it in the water so I am so ready.

thanks Jack

Re: cabin fever

Hey' Jack -

We live in Iowa and I am right there with you... Normally spring time here is a waiting game due to high water on the Mississippi from melting snow up north, but with the very light winter we've had throughout the entire region, in addition to the fact that our water was low in the fall, I'm hopeful that we will be on the water in late April, early May which is normally unheard of here (minus the die hards).

Hoping you find as much enjoyment with your boat as we have with ours. You only live once my man.

Have fun!

Re: cabin fever

I am in the Huntington area, thats in the WV, KY OH tri state corrner, and the rebuild is going fine its ben a on going project since june of 2011 inturped by a lot of fishing and it may be finished by next winter if one is ever finished. But the bad weather will pass it just gets very long waiting out the bad days and the on line parts shopping is killing my bank account.

Re: cabin fever

We bought our pontoon in late September and got to use it several times until the first of November here in southern Iowa. All winter long I have been studying catalogs and this site for add on stuff and have visited Bass Pro several times to be ready for the spring fishing. So far we have a new Minn Kota PD2, a new Minn Kota on board charger, new life jackets, rod holders, a couple of new rods to do some trolling with, planner boards, more tackle for trolling for walleyes, new spark plugs, 2 new batteries for the trolling motor and wiring to hook it up and an extra older depth finder to mount in the front of the boat. I need some warm days to get to the storage area to get every thing installed and ready to fish ASAP. No cabin fever here (hee hee) but the ice is starting to melt around here so it could be any time now!!!;)

Re: cabin fever

It has been such an easy winter so far I am just waiting till the April for it to really hit us, lots of snow and bitter cold, I really hope not but it just so weird this year.

I finally got my lower togehter and painted so technically the boat is ready to splash any time so hopefully very soon.

I feel your waterlust, Jack. I have a new-to-me toon waiting up in Northern Minnesota. Got a call from the island several days ago and the ice was 2 ft thick! Soon enough, May will roll around and we'll get the thing launched. I am looking forward to many trips back and forth to the boat landing to get supplies!
