Cabin lights are blinking

I have a 1989 Four Winns Candia 200. When I hit the switch to turn on the cabin/interior lights, they turn on for a couple seconds then start to blink. I move the positive lead to a different switch and get the same results. I can not figure this one out. Any thoughts on what it can be? What and how can I test the system?

You probably mean "flickering", which is probably due to low voltage. Check the condition of the lead that feeds your lights, chances are you'll see a good amount of black corrosion, which will reduce the current flow and drop the voltage going to the lights.

Your boat is 21 years old, the wiring is probably pretty suspect...

No black corrosion, and its not a flicker. I would think that if there was a low voltage situation they would dim not flicker. They are acting more like a slow strobe light. It is a pretty steady blinking as opposed to a quick flicker. I guess I can switch out the terminations. Just odd how they come on and stay on for a couple seconds and then start to blink on and off. Any other ideas?

Do they blink totally on and off, or do they go from slow bright to slow dim? Either way, that's a weird one...

Are you experiencing any other electrical issues?

Sounds like a flaky circuit breaker.
