My project has the Hydrolic steering system both in the cabin and fly bridge.

I'm thinking of converting to cables simply because of the safety factor..They rarely break, and they certainly don't leak!

Any thoughts?

H.

Stay with hydraulic steering. I can't imagine how you would have two stations with cables. Steering is much easier (zero torque from motor or rudder, etc.) with hydraulic and you have complete fexability to route lines. ;)

Actually, I used to install dual cable controls on Marlin boats. They do make them.

Just wondering if it would be cost effective.

Yes, hydrolic is easier, but can get messy if things break.

Do you know if you have to use high-pressure lines for it?

I would like to replace all of the hoses.

H.

Hey Homerr,
Since there is no high pressure hydraulic pump involved, I don't know why you would need high pressure lines. Don' know who's steering your talking about but I doubt if that Teleflex Sea Star system has more than 100psi working pressure. I don't know that, but from just looking at it I would guess that.
Hooty would keep the hydraulic.

c/6

Hooty
