Hi, I am replacing the heads on my 1985 Chevy 350, in a boat I bought used. The previous owner stated he had the engine rebuilt.

Anyhow, I see the pistons are marked .040, and the stroke is roughly between 3.55-3.6"

Anyhow, guess this isn't technically a stroker, since the stroke isn't long enough to be a 383, right?

I guess this is just a rebuilt Chevy bored .040 over.. right? I figure it to be around a 364 cid now...

Re: Calculating engine stroke

It's a 350,....... The Stroke of the Crankshaft is 3.48"s.......

If the Pistons are marked .040,....... It's had a .040 Over-Bore..........

Re: Calculating engine stroke

Bondo, thanks. Yeah, I was wondering about the 3.55" that my dial guage showed. Must have just been off.... thanks. And I know the 383 has a 3.75" stroke (right).

Wow, didn't I read somewhere on here that .030 was the most recommended for marine engines?

Also, since it is already bored, what else would I have to do to stroke it besides ordering the crank etc? Would there be any additional machine work involved or just assembly?
