I took the outdrive(Mercruiser Alpha One)off my boat because I need to replace the gimble bearing. So... I now have a hole where the outdrive used to be. Looking up that hole I can see all the way up to the coupling at the back of the engine. As I look in that hole where is the gimble bearing, and how do I get it out?

You can find out where it is by reading your manual. If you don't have one, may I suggest you get one before you proceed. If you can see your coupler than you've loked past it. Get your hand in there and feel for it. You need a puller to remove gimbal

tylerin is right.....
Go to the top of This Page,+ Click on Manuals.....
Once you get your Manual, You'll see, You're Looking at the Gimbal Bearing, Not the Coupler....

Get yourself a 10lb. Slide-Hammer(3lb. is just Toooo Small), Slip the working end thru the bearing, Attach a Stop(large flat washers will work) on the engine side of the bearing,+ Start Hammering.......
Hopefully It'll Slide Out......

If Not, Attach the handle-end of the slide-hammer to a Fixed object(Tree, or the hitch on a Truck will work), Hook the trailer to your tow vechicle, make Sure the boat is Secured To the Trailer..... Now, have someone put a Serious Strain on the hook-up with the Tow Vechicle, While You Slam the Slide Hammer.....
The Bearing WILL come out.....
Been Here, Done This...........

Good Luck..
