Calling all Suzuki DF70 owners!...

Jest a quick question about props for this specific motor...<br /><br />Any recommendations / comments on pitch size, stainless steel vs. aluminum vs. composite, etc, etc...<br /><br />is GREATLY appreciated...Thanx...<br />-TopwatrSteve

I use a 17 pitch V-series aluminum (cupped)and my engine runs at 5800 rpm at WOT. It runs 38mph and I can pull a slalom skier out of the water easy as well as troll all day. A 17 stainless would be excellent to gain a mph or two but if you wack an underwater object there will be gear damage. This prop I'm using allows the engine to run at the top recomended rpm of 5800 which is ideal. Mileage is excellent. I would not go any higher in pitch with this engine since you will lose performance.

Hi, Steve.<br /><br />Any prop advice is worthless unless we know what boat you have your Suzi on, and what performance (WOT rpm) you are getting.<br /><br />Mine is on a 1980 Boston Whaler Montauk 17. I used an 18" cupped SS until I added weight to the bow (Minn Kota Genesis) and added one, 100lb passenger in front of the console. I now run a cupped 17" SS.<br /><br />Tell us what boat you wnnt to power.

Thanx for the input guys...<br /><br />I am planning on putting this engine (DF70) on a 1998 Lund Pro Sport 1600 (16')...<br /><br />Although the more threads i read about the difficulty in getting warranty replacement parts for Suzukis, i may actually have 2nd thoughts...

I think you have been reading ancient history, Steve. <br /><br />I haven't heard a whine about parts for a DF in a couple of years and I have gotten anything I needed within days.<br /><br />Bombardier wouldn't sell something they couldn't support. You might consider a Johnson painted DF70.<br /><br />Good luck.

Interesting thing -- I was at the local E/J dealer a while back and they needed a part (O2 sensor I think) for a Bombardier painted Suzuki motor. They were out of stock on the part so to avoid waiting they went to the Suzuki dealer and just bought one to get the guy going. Heres the odd part -- list price for the same part from Bomb was cheaper although it was still a Suzuki part. <br /><br />????

I used to have a Mazda MX6 car that punctured the plastic gas tank. The Mazda gas tank was ~$450, the Ford Probe gas tank (same part) recommended by the Mazda dealer because he didn't have one was ~$250. Go figure
