Jason your Trihull wonder is good. I want to know a few things.
1. Did you use a chemical respirator when you put in the polyester resin.
2. And do you really need mat and glass cloth to hold the floor to the hull.
3. Do you believe that vinylester resin might be better than poly.

Thanks for the infomation.

Phatman, you don't get to answer :) ...Yes, I used a respirator, the odor would have killed me. Yes, you need to glass the floor to the hull. The floor, stringers, transom, and hull shell must be bonded together to form the strongest structure. Any shortcut could result in poor handling or, even worse, structural failure. I believe the poly is all you need to get it done, vinylester, or better yet, epoxy will only improve it further. I have already decided that any next project will use epoxy where needed, not so much for the additional strength then just the ease of use and lack of smell. Poly isn't horrible to use, but spending a day in a respirator gets old.

Thanks to all.
Chief nice link for 3. However i am not building a canoe? :)

JasonJ how about a 4 inch tape job then 6 inch over that then 6 oz S-glass cloth from hull side to hull side 6 inces passed tape. S-glass is 30% stronger than regular glass cloth also known as E-glass.

I guess that would work. I only used 12 inch wide heavy roving around the perimeter then sheathed the whole mess in with mat (can't remember the weight, I just know it was the heaviest they had).
