I thought I'd ask our new resident professional expert his opinion on what I'm doing. Have you ever worked on a 1976 15' Larson Tri-hull ?

First off let me say, that is a really clean boat! Too bad it wasn’t in the condition that first meets the eye. Definitely think you’re on the right track. I’m a little confused about the keel area though.

So what makes up the vertical part of the keel box? Just a thick piece of glass (you said 3/8" correct?)? Without not really know what’s there, I know I would want something nice and thick there. A nice piece of wood would do nicely, and really give you something nice to attach the floor to with some ss screws (and some nice thick epoxy). Besides the vertical piece, I like how you have it planned out and the geometry will really make it strong without a lot work. It’s nice that there will be a thick piece to attach the seats to. Four layers of tape will certainly make that bulletproof working along with some nice foam. What about on the inside of the keel box on the vertical piece attach a nice piece of stock to have a beefy area to attach the floor/sole to as well? I really think you doing a great job; it will certainly be folds above how it came out of the factory new.

I know that I like to tape all seems in the floor (if any) and then tape it all in like you were describing around the edges. I then like to glass the whole surface of the floor overlapping the edges of the tape on the sides with the glass.

Nothing makes up the vertical in the keel box, it's just open space with thick side walls and an even thicker keel (probably 1/2 " glass)

They some how layered on foam flotation to the sides about a ft. up from the floor, then chopped some glass onto that (their idea of a fillet?) I'm going to grind all of that off, fillet the floor to the sides, some tape, then mat with bi-axial up to where the hull joins to the top (you can see light through the hull it's so thin)

I have a 2' long part of the keel up front where it's been beached too many times and the glass is showing... and it leaks. I don't want to take the top off and can't get to that area as it's a bow rider. Think I could just grind out the bad glass and layer glass and epoxy into the void, then overlay that with a couple coats of bi-axial to form a keel sheild?

Sorry, good old coollege been keepin me busy. Any updates on your little project? I am going crazy being back in the books and not working... Least I have the SAE Mini-Baha....

Haven't had time lately to work on it with all that's happening (selling 2 properties, buying 2 properties, working) Got the resin, cloth etc. yesterday, probably be 2 weeks before I can get back to it.
