I have a 1965 Starcraft Holiday with a 110 hp Merc. I/O.
I am going to put a 2 cycle 1974 Evinrude 9.9 on the stern as a kicker.
A friend told me that I do not have to install a separate fuel tank for the kicker.
He said mixing 2 cycle oil in the main fuel tank and running it in the Merc. inboard will not hurt the engine.
I use TCW3. It seems to me that using 2 cycle oil in the main engine fuel would at least carbon up the spark plugs. And at worst carbon the cylinders and jam the piston rings resulting in engine damage.
I do decarb both engines after 50 hrs. as part of normal maintenance. I relay do not need to get a new kicker, this 1974 Evinrude was only used two seasons by my Dad then fogged and stored when he switched to fishing from a canoe.
I had to start it each year then fog it and put it back in storage for "MY future use." I inherited this motor 2 years ago and it runs great.
Is it really possible to use one fuel tank for both engines?
