I was told something about a computer flash and restriction plate. This is on a brand new motor so I'm aware of the warranty implications but I could wait out the warranty, I just want to know if it is possible?

To make more power, an engine needs to breath better. That may mean, but not limited to, bigger carbs, bigger intake runners, bigger or more valves, different camshaft profile. It may also mean changes on the exhaust side as well. Increasing power at the top end, often results in a weaker bottom end and midrange.

For years, some people thought a jet change was all that was needed to turn a 99 cubic in. 90hp into a 99 cubic in. 140hp. While it is doable, and a lot more than jets is involved, it is always cheaper just to get the higher HP engine in the first place

If you want to go faster get the biggest motor that the USCG says is safe legal for your boat!
If you want to go faster get a longer boat with more HP, be happy with what you got.
You cant always get what you want, but if you try some time you might find you GET what you need, cant wait for the stones usa tour should announce in a month or two.see you there.

Well the next boat up was 1ft longer and 1ft wider and had 75hp motor...wasn't worth 5-6k more to me for what I wanted to do...If I get another boat it won't be 75hp, it will be at least 115 or more. But for now this boat will work, I just wondered if there was a way to get a tad more out of it...it ran 36mph with the 50hp so I was actually fairly impressed considering older versions of the same boat tested at 33mph.

Proper rigging and setup will go a long way to getting the most out of it. Remove unnecessary ballast, ie: No wife, kids or mother-in-laws, especially mother-in-laws, aboard. Girlfriends and Mistresses are permitted though.
Carefull selection regarding propeller choice will also help. I’m not just talking pitch and rpm, I am referring to higher performance props that will require tweaking of engine height.
