Can a Gen1 lower work with a Gen 2 upper outdrive application??

Trying to help a friend out that has a mostly broken skeg on his Gen 2 drive,I have a spare
Gen 1 lower drive that I would be willing to give him .Not sure it will mate properly??
Looking to save him some welding or adding a keg guard. Charlie

My radiator guy (also does aluminum welding) still charges $35 for skegs

Skegs are useless. The whole lower unit and prop thrust steer the boat and keep it running straight. That triangle is Grandpa idea. Some useless stuff never changes.

Until your prop hits something / the bottom / a rock the skeg would have hit 1st.

Pretty sure it isn't about steering.
