It depends upon the engine, size, and the year. Most newer long shafts and almost all larger horsepower engines have the midleg designed for a 20 inch transom. Some of the older smaller engines had a 15 inch midleg and a 5 inch extension inserted to make them long shaft. Removing the extension and buying a shorter drive shaft will make them a short shaft.

If the short shaft version of your motor is 15", the answer is most likely yes. You will need a shorter drive shaft, water tube and shift rod. The 5" insert in the exhaust housing will have to be removed too.

If you obtian the correct parts and do the conversion, I recommend that you not sell or give away the longer parts - you never know when you might want to convert it back to the long shaft!
