Greetings Fellow Enthusiasts,

1998 Merc\Force 40 HP 2 -cyl. Tach not working. Charging system appears OK (14.5 vdc.) I'd like to check the gray output wire from the rect\reg. The manual sez use a DVA (Direct voltage adapter). No idea what that is... I was wondering if I could use an automotive timing light to measure the pulses to the tach to help narrow things down. Any other ideas how to check gray wire output???

Thanks,
-Nels

You want a digital voltmeter an put it tach output to ground on its lowest ac scale ..a reading will show the wiring is ok
