Can a transom mounted troll motor be mounted on the bow? I have the bow mount kit from a previous troll motor and would rather spend much less on a smaller, transom mounted troll motor and use it up front. Its a 15' bass boat, so i wouldn't think it would have much trouble gettin the boat around.

If you have a verticle wall to hang a transom mount motor on, do it.

The one thing that you need to look at is the shaft diameter of the transom mounted one, the bow mounts usually have an outer sleeve that lets the turn, but if you have both parts, why not try it out.

I just saw a mount Cabelas sells for exactly this purpose. It was designed for small crafts but should work on larger as well. Do a search for minn kota on their web site and you will see it right on the last page. Best of luck. Rick.

The motor might run opposite direction also. forward = backwards etc.

It's easy to turn the head unit 180 degrees on the shaft and re-bolt it. I used to do that when I had a minn kota on a canoe It always seemed I was going too fast in any forward speed. Rick.

Don't buy a metal shaft trolling motor if you plan to do this. Also, make sure the length is long enough for your bow. With a metal shaft trolling motor and bracket reversed, when you hit an underwater obstruction it is easy to bend the shaft, ie there is no give or release system. It doesn't take much of an impact. Any slight bend wil make raising it through the mount slide difficult.
