Yes,
You need:
A geared flywheel, starter bracket, starter, solenoid, starter button, wires.
I'm guessing you still want it to be tiller operated, right? I put electric start on my '54 bigtwin 25hp and I used a 15$ ford solenoid, the kind they used to mount on the firewall, and a starter button from the hardware store. Was able to fit the ford solenoid under the cowl so it looks better to me. The instuctions on how I did it are on this forum if you do a search. I was taught how to do it by help from a man on this forum who is an expert. Be careful, though, because you won't have a safety lockout mechanism for the electric start so it will be possible to start it in gear. DANGEROUS!!! I'll try to look up the old thread so it will be easier to find if you're interested. I'd post a free ad on aomci.com or call laingsoutboards.com to look for the parts to convert it. Laing's sells kits I believe, but they're higher than I'd want to pay.
Good luck,
JBJ

Here's a link to the thread. I hope it works. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=247625&highlight=evinrude+bigtwin

It has the instructions for mine, and CC67 put some nice pics of his '55 bigtwin electric start setup that he did a super job on. I like his setup better than mine, especially the info on the ford tractor starter button.
Good luck,
JBJ

Thanks, but it's not worth it to me. Bob
