I believe there is a possibility of the foam in my dory being waterlogged. I am going to drive the boat and trailer to a public weighbridge and check the weight (bare hull should be 585kg) and then lift the boat off ande take the trailer back to the weighbridge. If the foam is saturated, I will cut out the deck and re-foam and check the cross-braces and stringers etc. The deck of my boat is somewhat unusual as it was purpose built for the military. Where exactly should I cut to remove the deck??? (please see pictures on link below)

Howdy, John.

That's a Quayle Dory? (sp?)

If you do have water in there, and I suspect that is closed cell foam, like Boston Whalers, you can probably dry it out the way we dry out Whalers if they get water between the hulls.

We drill 1" holes in the bottom of the keel at the bow and stern, tilt her up a bit and pump warm air through her, bow to stern, with a vacuum cleaner exhaust for a few days. That usually dries her out. Then we just seal her up and go fishing. :)

Try this link John, yours didnt work.

We did one like JB described also. Later I got to thinking if this would work if we turned the boat upside down and cut the holes in the floor instead of the hull. I cant reason why that wouldnt work just as well. Not that it would really make a difference, i would just rather not cut a hole in the bottom again.
