I dismantled my boat years ago and done quite a bit of work to it. I have a center console, remote electric start 88 Evinrude. Its been awhile. Pulled the boat out today and attempting to determine what the cylindrical apparatus is in the photo? Mounted on the throttle body housing there on the center console. I believe its 'start-in nuetral only switch' but not 100% certain. Anyone that can advise?

Part of the issue is it possesses two wires leaving the bottom and I cannot remember for the life of me, where they attach. LOL..Yep, can't find my penciled schematic drawing of the entire breakdown either. smh

Thanks

It was wired in before the dismantling, I just cannot recall where. I cannot find anywhere in the wiring harness feeding that area that would indicate a connection point. I had the floor opened up but I"m 100% positive that I pulled all of the necessary wiring from motor to console, in the flooring before wrapping her back up.

You think it is for what now?

So we are certain its the wiring for a tachometer? I guess its always been disconnected then. Perhaps, I am mistaken and it never has been connected to anything. I do not have instrumentation of any kind at my center console unit. I was just thinking that I have never had any loose wires, prior to the dismantle and work that I did on the boat. Still uncertain at the moment.
