Re: Can anyone help with mariner 3 cylinder 75hp wiring

If this helps: On the Merc 90 cousin, the oil warning module has 5 wires:

Tan which is the OT/low oil level output wire to the alarm from the module. The OT signal (ground from the sensor) pigtails at this pin and goes back out not using any of the functionality of the module. The warning horn blasts a solid tone.

Lt. Blue has 2 inputs to the module, both of which come from the float sensor in the oil tank. If these two wires short together as happens with a low oil condition this causes the module to modulate the signal and sends a modulated signal to the warning horn which causes it to beep, beep, beep indicating the difference between the two faults for troubleshooting purposes.

Purple wire is the 12v input and is switched on at the control box. Red wires in the harness are directly wired to 12v but none are connected to this module in the Merc.

Black is to chassis gnd. aka battery - terminal.

No pink wires used in the Merc harness.

As you haven't answered my PM to you, I presume that you have the service manual wiring diagrams. Have you checked them as that should answer both of your questions.

Yes thanks I downloaded file so sent me and am truly grateful it has been a great help but the wiring on this little Black box does not match any shown in the manual 4 wires blu black green / white and white green. 3 one end one wire the other I'm sure it's some trim part but not sure where too wire it too ??

I am not talking about the condensed version of the Clymer manual, this is the actual Mercury service manual.

Blue and green are as you said trim wires. White stripe on a small gauge wire would indicate a control wire where the larger solid wires would do the work.
