Can anyone tell me about this boat?

I found it on Craigslist but i don't have any info because it having a 115 Merc outboard. Can anyone guess what make or model the boat maybe?

The striping (or whats left of it) is exactly of an early Cobia. Sorry...I can't add much more than that. Get the hull ID number off of the transom.

I can also tell you that that is a tower of power Merc..and they do not have the best reputation as a reliable motor...probably a cobia boat..but it does not really matter does it? as long as it is in good condition. plan on getting another motor...if i wanted that set up (which I would not) it looks like about a $150-300 boat and trailer, you might could sell that motor for $50

I was thinking of trading my old Trailer for that setup.... I am looking for a boat i can spend some time time fixing and keeping or turn around and sell it. The guy that has it don't know anything about the engine

Definitely a Cobia. Looks like it's already been parted out I think Sparkie is being a little overly harsh. Merc towers definitely have their fans. That one could be worth $800+ in running condition. If it is equipped with working power tilt and trim that would be a big plus. The motor is the only thing of any value there.

they have their fans..but I just do not know any of them..the crowd I run with use them as anchors. I havent seen many that didnt have a rod through the block, and I have never seen one that the trim didnt leak down fast..I see them in the craiglist/tell n sell all the time for cheap..and I know where a few are sitting..If you know where I could get $300-800 for them please let me know where to place an ad. also when ever the guy that owns it does not "know anything about the engine" it does not run and will probably need lots of work to be made to run..

I buy and fix up old boats also for resale..tough business to be in now..it is easy to get more money and time into a project than what you can sell it for.

They just do not bring much in the normal outboard market..the people I sell to want late 80s or 90s model motors.

I will get with you if i get it. I havent heard back from the guy yet but it took 2days just to get a reply out of him in the first place... I already know someone who would want that engine for there pontoon boat but i am not looking to sell it if i get it i want one i can fix. I wish i could find one we had when i was little back about 20years ago. (Damn been that long?) it was a 1963 21foot semi flat bottom triple v hull Deluxe Johnson OMC with the Buick V6 I miss that bat-boat! Wish i could find another. I been pouring over images of other OMC boats but i have not seen any that was like it or as long. I have photos of the one i had but they are about 150miles away in the storage locker.

No you don't. You'd never find parts for one of those OMC's.

nostalgia is cool and all as long as you have the $$$..I have a 1967 GTO sitting out in my barn that I bought when I was 17 years old..I got married had kids and it just sat up since..no money to fix it up...maybe when the last kids graduates college..I will do a full restore on it.

I have a 79 TOP merc.. I Love that motor! There's no other outboard that offers the torque (in 115) that that 6 cyl puts out! Plus.. you just cannot match the sound.. I guess i am one of the fans lol. It is just like anything else, if you take care of the motor, it will take care of you. my 115 drives my 1979 checkmate past 50 mph.

Another old Merc fan here! 73 150 L6 that still works pretty good.In decent running cond. that motor would easily go for $1000-$1500 in our neck of the woods.
