Hi All,
I have a 30yr old Volvo Penta 700 70hp outboard engine,
Yesterday while testing it at sea, I lost all drive to the prop, it turned out to be a tiny split pin on the gear selector rod they runs through to the lower gear box.
The problem is the pin fits at the top of this rod just under the powerhead, I have spoken to a dealer and he said the only way to fit it is to remove the powerhead, insert the new pin and replace the powerhead.
I can see 6 bolts that hold the powerhead down, I have removed them but can't lift the head off,
Is there something else holding the powerhead on that I can't see (other than the 6 bolts) or would it just be the old gasket is so tight that it needs a good smack with a rubber hammer ??
thanks
