Can I add a stator & rectifier to my 1976 25hp electric start?

I was hoping to add a stator (0582097) and rectifier that are designed for a 1976 15 HP Evinrude to my 1976 25 HP Evinrude. I'm not sure why the 25 was never designed with one. Does anybody know if this stator will mount on the ignition plate of the 25 HP? The diagrams/photos of the plates sure do look the same. I know this same stator was used on a 40 HP at one point. I have an empty side on the plate as this motor uses only one driver coil for ignition.

I did a quick search and it seems the 9.9, 15 and 40hp used the same mag plate. And the 25hp used a different one. I have a 1976 40hp that was converted to electric start and it is only a 5 amp charging system which is not that much. I got the parts from a donor motor so it was not too bad. But if I had to buy those parts new then if you ask me it is not worth it.

Won't work. They didn't put that loser armature plate on the 25hp. Be glad. Oh, and even if they did you would need a different $$$$ flywheel.

An old Bombardier Dealer P&A guide lists some electric starting parts for the 25's. part number 173964. Unfortunately, they start model year 1977 and newer and are for electric starting only. No provision for battery charging. As Hardwater indicated, you may be best to try to find a junk engine and buy it for the charging parts.
You'd be better off recharging the start battery once a month that fussing with the conversion.
