Can I flush using a barrel

My question is this using a plastic 40 gallon bucket can I flush (for a few minutes) a 225 as opposed to using the muffs. Why you ask: I have had my boat hauled for the winter and was in the process of winterizing today. The yard where the boat is stored has a hose 300' away from my boat and the two 50' hoses they have their fittings cut off (besides being 200' too short). Do I buy 300' of hose just to flush my outboards for a total of 30 minutes?

Yup.

I use a cut down (one side) 55 gallon plastic drum. I've used it for years.

I've run a 90 in it many times. As long as the foot of your 150 will fit, go for it. DO NOT put the engine in gear. Don't ask me how I know this. :-0

you may as well buy the hose, you still have to fill the drum.

The plan is to fill the barrel in the truck drive it to the boat and man handle it to the boat. 30 gallons is about 240# me and a buddy should be able to handle that. If not fill it as much as we can handle and hand carry the rest to fill it.

While the flushing in a barrel is a good idea, manhandling a barrel of water is not gonna be easy by any stretch of the imagination!

These types of barrels that they manufacture now are very handy. They fold down flat for storage and are lightweight.

Now that's a cool feature. But moving it full of water will still be very tough!

I hate to ask but could you move the boat to the water rather than the water to the boat?

Betcha that was a wet experience. I did it by mistake while I was pawing for the keys to shut the motor off. I used a garbage can tho.. What a mess that was!
