Can I glue or JB Weld this?

I had a thought about the trim sender on my 2002 125 Mercury. Is there a glue or epoxy or adhesive that will bond plastic to aluminum? It isn't under any stress, it will just have a slight twist pressure when the motor goes up or down. Just a thought and I wondered if anyone has done anything like this.

Epoxy may work. Marine Tex I think it's called will. 3M 5200 seems to bond and seal anything under the sun so that should. 3M VHB double sided tape will for sure work but it's very pricey.

JB weld should also work fine but you might want to clean and scuff up the aluminum a little bit.

Yeah 4200, sat here trying to remember the number and just mentioned 5200 because I knew it was strong and remembered the number. Couldn't remember if it was 4200, 4600 or 4800 and didn't want a chicken hunt to happen :D

I've never posted anything political in dockside chat if I've ever even posted there before. Just trying to help a friend promote his website and have seen a lot of political discussions/debates here and have seen the end result of them as well. Sorry for trying to promote a better way to discuss politics then in a BOATING forum.

Oh, and I'm not telling anyone what to do with my sig, it's a suggestion... not holding a gun to anyones head. If more people complain about it I'll remove it, and I would recommend doing so in PM because it's a little off topic from this or any other thread that should be on this forum.

Re: Can I glue or JB Weld this?

NEVER MIND, took a scrap piece of 1/8" steel and drilled a smaller hole near the edge then I put that over the broken screw and clamped it with vice grips and got a pilot hole drilled, worked great. It kept the bit from wandering and I was able to drill dead center through the old bolts. then I just took the #25 bit that came with the tap and drilled it and got it dead center. I ran the tap in and on one side the thread came loose from the old screw and when I backed it out I had a sleeve of the old screw. Got both bolts in and tight, no problem.
