Can I make this transom housing fit???

It looks like I ran into an obstacle. I have the original transom housing (pre-alpha) and in my crusade to restore my tin boat (starcraft) i bought what I thought would be a replacement for my housing.
But as you can see It looks like the hole where the housing mounts to the transom is not shaped for the newer one and will not fit because of the bottom exhaust port.

Is it possible for me to just reshape (cut) the transom so the newer housing can fit?

By what it looks like I would have to get a new exhaust tube too. And if I make fit will I have to repklace anything else beside the exhaust tube???

Ayuh,... That's an O L D 1...
Yes, you need t reshape the hole...
The top studs might need their holes redrilled too,... The newer look to be wider...

You'll also need the Inner transom plate to match the new housing...

Thanks Bondo, Im glad I have the trans plate also. when I tried to fit it , I noticed the bottom part was the only part that didnt fit. Top bolts went in fine. Good so I will shape to fit.
