Hello, i have recently aquired an evinrude 115 with electric shift..... i dont know much about these old dinosaurs but i figured id check the compression before i scrapped it and much to my surprise it had between 110 and 115 pounds on all four so i thought i might try to put that power head on a newer mid section..... does anyone know if that will work? i would like to have power trim is why i want to do this, and im not too comfortable with the whole electric shift idea, it also has no spark but im sure i can figure that out pretty quick, and if i cant swap power heads, would the pistons still be the same after all those years???? im looking at buying an 80's 115 or 120 vro with low compression and would like to make one good motor out of the two if possible, also i have a 90's 120 vro and im wondering if the pistons from that would work in the 80's vro, the 90's one is one of the big ones and the other two are the smaller ones ( in overall size ) i wonder why they ever changed them and made them so big?

Wont bolt up as bolt pattern and exhaust different....
would the pistons still be the same after all those years??
Nope as wrist pin height is different and very few parts if any will interchange from a 1970 115 to a 1980's model.....
i have a 90's 120 vro and im wondering if the pistons from that would work in the 80's vro,
Nope again as the 120 is a looper and the others are crossflows.......

i have decided to try to fix this motor, i have no fire and only .74 volts going to the pulse pack, any suggestions on how to get 12 volts to it? also i read that the spring under the flywheel will affect the fire as well, i dont understand the idea of this spring????? ive never owned a motor this old before, how do i check this spring to see if its ok and it has no (spring) to it, it just moves back and forth freely
