Can I Replace (Just) This Speedometer Component

I have an 81 Starcraft. I don't know exactly what kind of speedmeter I have. The sensor is n the transom, and pivots down below the transom for running and up out of the way for tailering. It doesn't seem like a mechanical cable that connects to it, but rather like a hollow plastic tube. The small, white, plastic sensor on my transom has been broken off. The segment that attaches to the transom is fine, but the long, narrow segment that pivots up and down, the piece the tubing actually connects to, is snapped off. Can I get just a replacement for this, or am I going to have to replace more, or all of the system?

Thanks.

You can replace just the pickup - it's called a pitot. You can get them just about anywhere.

Thanks folks. That's the piece I'm talking about.

This brings up another questions. I am new at this whole thing, so am quite leary of drilling new holes in my boat.

If the holes of the new pitot don't match the holes that are in my boat:
What method should I use to attach the new one? (I have an aluminum hull.) Also, should I remove the old one, which would then require me to patch the holes there. How should I do that?

Thanks.

Every replacement pitot tube I've seen have slots intead of holes so they will match up to darn near anything you have hanging off your transom.

Cool. Thanks.

So I should be able to unscrew the current one, splooge a little silicone around the holes and screw the replacement back on. Then the tube will just attach to it and I'll be in business again? Is the tubing diameter standard? I'm assuming it is.

Thanks again.

You probably don't have to unscrew anything. The new pitot should fit into the existing slot.
