can I resleeve 40hp merc

my 1998 40hp 3cyl top piston scewed up and lower part of the sleeve brocke off.
Is it possable to get it resleeved?

I think it is possible, L.A. sleeve in los angles california is said to be able to make a sleeve to your specs. probably other places to get one as well. I once had a Honda 2 stroke four wheeler that had a crack in the bottom of the sleeve (the end by the crank) and it never bothered anything, maybe you can get lucky as well?

If it can be done, this is the shop that can do it. He's everybodies final goto guy. Chances are this is where it would end up if you found another shop that said they could do it.

This is a common problem with the 40/50/60 3 cylinder engines as the sleeve will rotate and pull toward crankshaft if they get hot from weak or failed impeller. When this happens the sleeve will raise up and the top ring will catch under sleeve,this results in top ring land broken off and bottom of sleeve broken by connecting rod. When I repair one of these engines, I pin the other sleeves to prevent this. I have one in shop now that has this problem and will be posting pictures of the rebuild process.....
