looking at putting a motor on a 1956 hewes craft. the boat has a modified transom that measures around 19" I found a 15hp ss motor that is too good to pass up can I run this motor on this boat? this boat will be used as a duck hunting boat not run long distance and the extra clearace would be nice for shallow water

it is possible to mount the motor on that transom, but it will never work! sorry, just being silly, the short answer is NO! it will never be any good.

If you just want to put around at 5mph then sure, it will work fine. You will not be able to plane the boat. As the boat picks up speed and lifts higher out of the water your prop will ventilate and you will go no where.

I tried this with a 40HP 15" on a 20" transom and that's exactly what happend.
