Will it hurt anything to run my '95 115 60 degree with the stator unplugged? How are CDI regulators? I could save 100.00, or would I just end up buying another in a short time?
If you unplug the stator how is it going to start?

CDI is one of the best, if not THE best, electronic manufacturers around. Very knowledgeable, helpful folks.
It will run without the stator plugged in, I did it today. I guess it just runs of the battery. I don't know if it will hurt the stator however?Glad to hear CDI is o.k. I'll probably go with them.
Running the motor with the yellow alternator stator wires disconnected will build up internal heat in the stator and possibly burn or melt insulation. The stator costs over twice what a regulator costs, and it is harder to replace on a motor like yours.

As the venerable Mr. Hadley said, CDI products are very good. Their generous warranty does not include labor, though, whereas factory parts warranty includes the labor to replace a bad one.
Thanks Seahorse,
Thats the answer I was looking for. I'll HJook it back up and hopefully I didn't hurt it too much. I ran it for only about five minutes disconected.
