The ( 2 ) transducer cables are to long , is there any problem with cutting them and re-terminating the one end ( that attachs to depth finder )
This is assuming I can re-use the factory end or purchase a new one.

I know that in some sensor applications the wire length is carefully sized at the factory to give correct ( temp ) values. Dont know about sonar.

Thanks in advance, really enjoying this forum !

If the cable is shielded and you understand what that is for and how to maintain proper shielding then yes you can splice it. Do it wrong and you may experience sonar issues as well as interference on you audio system. Also understand that you cannot generally add a new connector to a cable since they are molded assemblies. You would need to cut out a section of wire and simply splice it so the connector is retained. The suggested method here is to simply coil the cable, secure it and know that the system will operate. There is nothing wrong with a little extra cable suitably dressed.

Silvertip is correct. The cables are not tuned like an antenna cabe, but the shielding is EXTREMELY important, and must be maintained.
