Can I store a 2-stroke OB on its side?

[Stratocaster]

5hp 2-stroke Mercury OB, late model. Any limitations as to how it can be laid down on its side for transport?<br /><br />I assume the fuel has to be shut off, then the carb run dry. Just wondering if there is a right side or wrong side to lay it down on. Thanks.

The only thing you have to watch out for is like breaking the shift lever or tiller or something as such. The engine is fine in any position. Chief
