Can I swap 2.5 liter powerhead with 2.0 liter midsection

Hello,

I have a 1995 mercury 150 outboard that has a blown powerhead. I have a buddy who has a 2000 mercury 200 hp outboard..the powerhead is good..but he does not have the midsection or lower unit. I am looking to swap the powerhead of his..onto mine. Can anyone tell me if I am looking at some major problems? I believe it will bolt up..but that the Exhaust may be an issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Easy swap, only reason you would need to swap adapter plate is if the 1995 was a 2.0 liter as exhaust ports on plate are a tad smaller.....

Thanks for the reply. The problem is the 95 that I have now..is the 2.0 liter 150. The 2000 2.5 liter is the one I want to swap with. I only have the mid section and plate for the 95 2.0 liter. If I understand your post...I will need an adapter plate to mate the 2.5 liter to the 2.0 liter midsection?
