I think it will get between the rivets better. What color do I use for the final sand before I paint?

Well now that all depends on your Primer coat .. and what the primer suggests.

I would say NO at this point.

Yes you could/should use a red scotch bright around your fittings Before doing an all around Prep for Pre-primer/primer coats..

What stage are you at ? .. Pics ? .. what paint system ? .. .. Soo many Variables ..

Right now I'm stripping all paint with zip strip and brown scotch brite pads...I'm wondering what color scotchbrite to use BEFORE the alumiprep and alodine steps......

We use red on airplanes. The point is to make sure all the paint bits and any spots of corrosion are gone.
