Re: Can I use?

Sorry but no as the 150 is a 2.0 liter and contrary to other posts you cannot make a 2.0 liter 150 into a 200 unless you spend a lot of $$$$$

How about a 2.4 L 175? OR a 2.5L power head with 2.4 injectors on a 2.4 leg?

Do you know anything about tha V6? Have you ever worked on one other than just tinkering around on it? If not, forget about just buyin' parts to try ta fix yours. You really need ta find a "complete drop on power head". But even buyin' one of these ya gotta know what your doin'. Lotta "junk" dealers out there. You could end up with somethin' worse than what ya got now. Just do a lotta homework!........What part of tha country are ya in?

I am in utah.. I have rebuilt a 115 johnson.. So I know enough.. The problem is I have a chrome bore and It looks pretty nasty. At least 2 or 3 need to be replaced.

Re: Can I use?

3 sleeves might be close ta 900 bucks with tha shippin' back n forth to a good shop. Goin' rate seems ta be 230 ta 300 per hole. Then ya still have 3 well used holes in tha block and "mixed" ring types.

Tha big problem is findin' a good "second gen" chrome or steel 2.4 block (especially one thats still standard) if ya planin' on usin' some of your stuff. A good chrome bore would be a very rare (expensive) block if one does exist.....A good, done tha right way, rebuild is gonna be expensive anyway ya cut it. A shout cut rebuild is gonna eventually be more trouble down tha road.

There's a lotta choices for ya and I'm sure tha guys on here will help ya out. Whichever way ya go just do tha research................

Re: Can I use?

Ya might post your dilemma on BBC and/or S&F ta get some more input. Someone there might even have a long block or drop on for reasonable...........jmo

Oh yeah, You'll have ta cut thru all tha BS stuff (true and not so true) that some will post.............Both sites have changed a lot tha last few years!

Sorry i am so annoying.. But one more question.. I have done a ton of research and need a final thought.. Can I put my injectors on a 1980 200hp I want it fuel injected instead of carbed so I can go on certain lakes. Thanks

Re: Can I use?

As long as its a "horizontal reed 2.4 motor" then yes. Ya might wanna consider sendin' tha injectors out to be checked/cleaned, O-rings, gaskets and etc...........jmo

Re: Can I use?

As long as its NOT a 2.0 "fat block" which looks just like a 2.5 on tha outside. Except tha ecu... Tha early 2.4/2.5 analog was terrible anyway and tha weak link on tha early efi.............Just be very careful with what ever ya buy. Don't cut corners. Your spendin' good money and would hate ta see ya in tha same place in short time............

Re: Can I use?

Okay, thank you very much for your time. I think I will save up for a newer (1995-2002) motor. I will part her out and try to make some money.. I will now work on cosmetics on the boat untill I find a new motor.. In your opinion what year had the best motor? In the years I listed. Either a 225 or a 250 and what is a good price for one? Thanks again
